Use of GenAI

STATEMENT ON THE USE OF GenAI

The editorial board of the journal “Galicja. Studia i materiały” reviews all submitted texts for the use of AI tools. Authors and reviewers are required to adhere to the following standards:

Standards Regarding the Use of GenAI Tools

  1. The author of a scholarly text must be a human being. Authors bear full responsibility for the content of their text, including any parts that were based on data obtained through AI tools. This means they are accountable for its reliability, originality, and for any potential breaches of publication ethics caused by the use of AI tools. AI tools (including chatbots) cannot be regarded as co-authors.

  2. It is not permitted to use AI tools to generate text, images, or any other iconographic materials (such as maps, drawings, etc.) that form part of the submission.

  3. In cases of AI use other than those mentioned in point 2, authors are obliged to thoroughly verify the AI-generated data and to specify the AI tool used along with the method of its application (including its name, purpose, scope, and method of verification).

  4. Authors must inform the editorial board via a special declaration (Attachment 6) about any use of AI tools during the preparation of the text.

  5. Detailed information about AI tool usage (name, version, purpose, and scope) must be included in the first footnote of the submitted article.

[FOR REVIEWERS]

  1. The author of a review must be a human being. Reviewers bear full responsibility for the content of their reviews.

  2. Due to the limitations of AI tools and the confidential nature of the peer review process, the editorial board does not recommend the use of GenAI tools for preparing reviews. It is strictly prohibited to use AI tools to generate review content/text.

  3. Reviewers must submit a special declaration (Attachment 7) either confirming non-use of AI tools or specifying the extent of AI use during the preparation of the review text (subject to the restrictions in point 7).
