The journal is titled “Galicja” and uses the full name “Galicja. Studia i materiały” The scope of the journal refers to Austrian Galicia as a historical region that existed within specific geographical boundaries between 1772 and 1918. Galicia was formed from the southern part of the former Polish territories (today within Poland and western Ukraine) and incorporated into the administrative structure of the multiethnic Habsburg Monarchy, where it existed as one of its many provinces. This historical context is reflected in the composition of the editorial board, the scientific council, and the selection of reviewers. The editorial team consists exclusively of Polish historians affiliated with the University of Rzeszów. Members of the scientific council and reviewers include historians from Austria, Ukraine, Hungary, Slovakia, and Poland—that is mostly from regions that once formed part of the Austrian monarchy. All are specialists in 19th-century history. “Galicja. Studia i materiały” is a peer-reviewed journal devoted to the history of Austrian Galicia (1772–1918). Particular attention is given to works addressing issues related to social and economic history, history of mentalities, women’s history, historiography, history of philosophy, and history of religion. All submissions should relate thematically to the history of Galicia between 1772 and 1918.
