Abstract

Organizational commitment is a process thanks to which the employees identify themselvespersonally with the effects, changes and daily decisions of the company, and thus, are more satisfied and effective at work (Ketchum, Trist, 1992; Mosadeghrad, Febrile, Rosenberg, 2008, Salman, Pourmehdi, Hamidi, 2014). The volunteer work, as unpaid, by definition requires a higherdegree of organizational commitment in terms of both emotional and normative commitment.Group and research tools: 69 volunteers from the „Szlachetna Paczka” project in the Rzeszówregion took part in the research. All subjects were adults. There were 50 women in the sample,which constituted 72.5% of the respondents. 56.5% of the respondents were volunteers, the restwere volunteers-leaders. The study used the Polish version of the Commitment to Organization byMeyer and Allen in the adaptation of Bańka, Wołoska and Bazińska (2002). Statistical analysisshowed that gender does not differentiate the level of volunteer involvement. The level of organizational commitment correlates with the role in the organization (volunteer-leader) and seniority.
