Abstract

The work deals with ethics in political work in relation to the fundamental principles of social order in industrially developed countries functioning on the basis of welfare state. It deals with the significance of social norms and their relation to behaviour of politicians when pursuing public and private interests. The central thought is the emphasis on the principle of solidarity, principle of general good, and principle of subsidiarity in the work of a politician in relation to the so called social and individual ethics, and also in relation to issues related to globalization and the responsibility as one of the main rules of political ethics. The author mentions the fundamental ethical requirements, following of which is necessary to be required from politicians in the interest of the responsibility that they have for the citizens.
