The article explores the aspect of digitisation processes aimed at protecting cultural heritage in the case of an armed conflict. Its aim is to define the role digitization plays in the preservation and accessibility of tangible cultural property during wartime. Based on a scoping review the article highlights the growing need to explore the potential of digitization activities within heritage management, particularly in Central and Eastern Europe. Consequently, the article analyses selected examples to examine the role of digitization in both preserving and providing access to heritage in Ukraine following Russia’s aggression in 2022. The Ukrainian experience serves as a significant point of reference for Poland in the formulation and ongoing reevaluation of digitization strategies for heritage resources under threat.
