Police as a link in the internal security system of the 5th French Republic

Ensuring internal security is one of the basic tasks of modern states. In order to implement it effectively within their security systems, they created specialized internal security subsystems. France is a country in which this type of subsystem also functions. One of its most important links is the National Police. In order to show the place of this formation in the aforementioned subsystem, the first part of the article presents the essence of this type of subsystem, and then characterizes the general shape of the internal security system of the 5th French Republic. Next, the issue of the legal basis for the functioning of the National Police in France was raised and its organizational structure was presented. In the final part of the article, the scope of tasks, personnel and material potential of the National Police and its international cooperation in ensuring internal security were analyzed. During the work on the article, the methods of legal analysis and system analysis were used.
