The article discusses the variety of actions taken by the government of Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD/Alliance 90/Greens/FDP) in the area of energy transition as a result of Russia's aggression against Ukraine, which began on 24 February 2022, with particular emphasis on accelerating the development of renewable energy sources operating within the electricity sector. In order to show how the war in Ukraine has changed the German policy in this field, focus has also been placed on the assumptions and goals of the government of the SPD/Alliance 90/Greens/FDP coalition with regard to energy transition, formulated before Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine. The article includes statistical data that serve to prove the development of renewable energy sources at the end of the rule of Chancellor Angela Merkel and at the beginning of the rule of the SPD/Alliance 90/Greens/FDP coalition, which highlights the problematic nature of the progress made by Germany to achieve its energy goals.
