Special witness protection in the Czech Republic. Overview of the issues

Abstract

The article presents the protection of witnesses within the framework of coordinated actions against organised crime in the Czech Republic. It points out the legal possibilities available in the Czech Republic for the protection of witnesses and furthermore characterises the institution of the anonymous witness. The so-called institution of special witness protection, which operates under a 2001 law, is also addressed. A form of witness protection involving short-term protection of persons is also described.
