The aim of the article is to indicate the importance of cooperatism in the implementation of sustainable development goals. By analysing strategic documents and reports on sustainable development, the author shows the problematic nature of achieving the set goals. She formulates a thesis that cooperatism, as a grassroots social movement and thus social involvement, is one of the key conditions for achieving sustainable development goals. She identifies the principle of responsibility, which stems from the assumptions of cooperatism and is necessary for the achievement of sustainable development, as an argument in favour of this position. She sees the activity of cooperatives in this respect not only in the economic-ecological dimension, but also in the socio-cultural and political dimension.
