The aim of this article is to present how the approach of "Nowy Dziennik" to the issue of NATO enlargement to include the countries of Central and Eastern Europe has
changed. For this purpose, an analysis of the thematic content of the journal from the period 1990–1999 was carried out. This made it possible to determine what factors determined the transformations in the way the journal presented the content in question. It was found that several narrative periods can be clearly distinguished – the first one falls on the period of disintegration of the system of people's democratic states; another in which the newly established authorities tried to develop new concepts of international security; the third – when it became clear that, despite expectations, Russia would follow its own path, which resulted in the strengthening of the conviction about the need to include Poland and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe in NATO. Finally, the last one, in which the ratification of the decisions made by individual allied governments was fought for. Based on the presented analysis, it was found that the magazine in question played a significant role in popularizing this idea and lobbying for it in the Polish diaspora in the USA, and thus also in America.
