The digital world is no longer attractive only to the average citizen. According to police data, criminals are increasingly moving their activities into cyberspace. This is due, among other things, to the sense of anonymity that the Internet illusorily gives them. For this reason, we are increasingly exposed to various types of fraud using modern technologies, including phishing, spoofing and the Nigerian scam. Each of these is ultimately aimed at intercepting our funds. This is why it is so important for the media to get involved in fighting and countering this practice. The aim of this article is, on the one hand, to discuss selected examples of computer crime, to present its scale and also to suggest ways in which the media can become involved in curbing it, especially among older people.
