Artifical intelligence has become a topic of scientific discourse due to the unexpected consequences of its development and uses. AI technologies can serve both entertainment and educational functions, as well as pose a threat in the form of spreading disinformation and discrediting others in public spaces. One of the inappropriate uses of artificial intelligence is the so-called deepfake. This paper aims to discuss the concept of deepfake based on the literature on the subject and the analysis of the content contained in the network. The author characterized the concept of deepfake in detail, discussed examples of fictitious content and the social consequences of its publication. In addition, the author reflected on the impact of the spread of disinformation and the risks associated with it on the disappearance of trust, resulting in the transformation of culture in which distrust and suspicion prevail.
