Abstract

The article is a selective reflection on the functioning of the young generation (children and youth) in the world of new information and communication technologies. The author compares the features of the traditional world and the postmodern (digital) image culture, which are important for the development of young people. This comparison serves to point out the basic threats to the development of the young generation related to digital culture. The author also indicates the main sources of autocreation problems of children and youth resulting from the destruction of the basic educational environments: family and school, as well as the peer group. The article also indicates the consequences of alienation from the real world and immersion of young people in the digital world. In the final reflection, the author draws conclusions about the tasks facing the adult generation, so that proper individual and social development of children and youth in the culture of the image will be possible.
