Abstract

Society and authorities of education are entitled to formulate assessment concerning condition of educational system as well as to forecast its future, which is connected with european integration, globalization process and challenges of system transformation in Poland.

More than 25% of polish society is connected directly with educational system, while significant number of citizens use parallel and continuous education. Education needs many well-considered reforms arising from needs and aspirations of society as well as informational revolution and “economy based on knowledge”.

Reforms introduced among the last 19 years were not always a result of cooperation in activity and decisions between scientists, teachers and governing bodies, who are often replaced without summarizing their pedagogical and social effects and substantive expertise. The quantitive success noticed among last years is very high rate of schooling at middle and high level. The most important challenge is effectiveness of didactic and upbringing work as well as creating “human capital” and “society based on knowledge and upbringing”.

Education means developing human and stimulating his self-development, and follow the rule “Understand the world and lead yourself” and “Study to be”.
