Abstract

The Czech Republic was one of those European countries where refugees from Ukraine arrived after the Russian aggression against Ukraine on 24 February 2022. They had been present in the Czech Republic before, but by the end of February 2022, one can already speak of a mass influx.

Both the Czech government and the Czech society have shown solidarity with the Ukrainian people by providing extensive humanitarian assistance to the newcomers, such as cash or housing-related assistance. The incoming Ukrainians also proved to be an important element of the Czech labour market, with approximately 100 000 refugees finding employment there (at the end of October 2022). As a result of the conflict and the influx of refugees into the Czech Republic, the attitude of Czech society towards Ukrainians has changed in a positive way.

Research methods typical of the political and administrative sciences were used in the development of the text: the method of institutional-legal analysis, the analysis of found data as well as the method of historical analysis.
