City in the light of climate change challenges. Conclusions from the analysis of Krakow’s development strategies

Abstract

The analysis of strategic and programme documents carried out indicates the fundamental importance of the challenges arising from climate change for urban development. The price for failing to address this challenge effectively will be the growing burden on public budgets and deepening social crises. As can be seen from the analysis of the urban development strategies developed so far, the Krakow local government seems to be fully aware of these threats. In spite of this, it is only in the 2022 The Actualisation of Kraków Development Strategy. "This is where I want to live. Kraków 2030/2050", the issue has been given a rank consistent with its almost fundamental importance for the further development of the city.
