In the modern era of lifelong learning an individual is expected to acquire the ability to learn consciously and independently. Self-reliance develops when the individual is active and acquires new experiences. This article, on the basis of the correlation between activity and self-reliance, shows mechanisms for acquiring self-reliance as a category of active self-determination. It also analyses to what extent media activity becomes the initiator of educational self-reliance.Downloads
