The objective of this article, which belongs to the field of literary research, is an attempt at showing the notion of poetic imagination as a syncretic phenomenon deeply rooted in the tradition of poetry. The author treats poetry as an art of meanings and a way of verbalisation of the objective world or the world dominated by fantasy and imagination. Imagination is an extremely complex notion, with extensive, often distinct content, which the author of the article strives to illustrate with an example of the work by K.I. Gałczyński, one of the most illustrious creators of poetic imagination.
