The history of the journal
Tematy i Konteksty (ISSN: 2299-8365) is a journal having a new title but a long tradition. It is a continuation of periodicals: “Research Bulletin of the University of Rzeszów. Philological Series. The History of Literature” (“Zeszyty Naukowe Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego. Seria Filologiczna. Historia Literatury”, published between 2002 and 2011; ISSN: 1643-0522) and “Research Bulletin of the Pedagogical College in Rzeszów” (“Zeszyty Naukowe Wyższej Szkoły Pedagogicznej w Rzeszowie”, published between 1991 and 2001; ISSN: 0867-0757). The two periodicals featured articles on history and literature written by representatives of Polish philologists in Rzeszów. In 2011 the editorial team decided to change the title, as well as considerably expand the thematic formula of the Rzeszów literary studies journal. Since then, a new issue of “Tematy i Konteksty” is published annually.
Individual issues of “Tematy i Konteksty” are monographic in nature. So far, we have published volumes discussing the following: The Great Emigration – The Second Independence Emigration – (E)migration at the End of the 20th Century (2011), The Archives of the Polish Philologist (2012), Poetics Today and Tomorrow (2013), Old-Polish and Enlightenment Religious Literature. Themes – Conventions – Tradition (2014), Evolutions of contemporary prose (2015), Old-Polish and Enlightenment Religious Literature. Times (2022), The Intricacies of Freedom (2023), Polish Literature in the International Context (2024).
