Abstract

The article is a multiperspective attempt to show cognitive and analytic problematics of postgraduate studies. It contains empirical data collected with questionnaire responded by students of postgraduate studies in Kraków. Basing on the observation of this educational reality as well as on opinion of students, the author obtained realistic view of this topic. Postgraduate studies become more common way of completing and modifying general and vocational education. This form of educational development has its social, vocational and educational conditions. It is also connected with educationl aspiration, specialisation and pursuance of profession or residence place. The text presents the most important aspects which determine development of postgraduate studies and other forms of vocational education. The author distinguishes dominant factors inspiring young people to self- educatin and development: personal motivation; professional aspiration; the need of increasing the prestige in environment; the chance of further education for working people; increasing requirements of professional qualifications; accessibility and diversity of studies organization; convenient place and time of education proces; social competition inspiring to salf- education; significance of postgraduate studies; increase of value of education.
