Information and education in the consumer policy strategies of the European Union

The article aims to present information and education as one of the goals of the European Union consumer policy strategy. The idea of consumer information and education in the European Union took the form of a concept. It can be identifies two levels of it. The first was related to activities in the field of shaping consumer knowledge in the educational and information process. The second, with the creation of an appropriate legal environment. It consisted in creating legal regulations containing guidelines for consumer information. The idea of consumer protection in the field of information and education was developed in legal acts in the form of consumer policy programs. It was implemented through a number of legal and organizational activities, i.e. the creation of consumer legislation, as well as information and educational activities of consumer protection entities.
