In defence of travel. The importance of the journey in the Romantic era in Poland

Abstract

The aim of the text is to analyze Romantic journey as a key to the Romantic culture. It is possible because the concept of journey combines and summarizes the most important constituents of Romantic philosophy. The author of the article presents the meaning of travel in the context of Romantic cognition, self-exploration and genealogy. The attention is also focused on Polishness and national identity regarded and defined by those who travel.
