Disability usually puts child’s parents, and the whole family system, in a difficult situation. It involves the change in the functioning of the family, marital relations, division of responsibilities, leisure or social participation. Especially mothers are bearing with education and rehabilitation of child. On their skills depends not only the welfare of the child but also the whole family system stability. The article presents the study over different styles of coping with stress in mother raising children with disabilities in the villages and towns. It identifies the deficits in activity-based attitude ofresearched mothers to stress situation and the dominancy of style concentrated on avoidance, especially in rural women.Downloads
