Abstract

The article consists of two parts. The first one is an analysis of a situation of an academic teacher employed at the didactic post in a character of a language teacher, lecturer, senior lecturer in the light of the new statutory regulations: the previous Act on higher education schools introduced the institution of an appointed teacher, which classification gave an employee a stabilisation concerning the ensured employment (the exceptional circumstances allow to relieve him/her). The new Act on higher education schools leaves such a possibility to employ exclusively independent employees (professors). The author collected every information, which in a synthetic way present rights and obligations of an academic teacher – a didactic employee.

In the second part the author presents opinions of teachers employed in a character of language teachers on the subject of their work in a context of the professional burn-out.

The asked persons (the employees of two academic schools in Rzeszów) know this phenomenon, they are subject to a continuous evaluation by the young people, are troubled by irregular hours of work and a lack of contact with co-workers. At the same time they mention positive aspects of being the academic teacher: a possibility of undertaking an additional work, possessing full social benefits.
