About the Journal

The annual “Sacrum et Decorum. Materiały i studia z historii sztuki sakralnej/Sacrum et Decorum. Materials and Studies on the History of Sacred Art” is a peer-reviewed journal publishing research exploring in a wider cultural context sacred art, art inspired by religion, or art alluding to metaphysical issues created between the 19th and 21st century. The journal is published in two language versions – Polish and English.

The journal consists of original peer-reviewed articles preceded by an editorial introductory text posted in the “Studies” section. The “Materials” section also includes reviewed articles, the value of which lies primarily in showing a new research problem to which the editors would like to draw the attention of readers and other researchers. The periodical also publishes reports, reviews and source materials. Starting with the 12th volume, in our magazine you can read the artists’ essays on their own work in the new series “Miscellanea”. The journal has been in continuous operation since 2008. The primary version of the periodical is the printed version. Texts can be submitted in the author's preferred language. We accept texts in the field of art sciences.

The journal publishes articles under a Creative Commons - CC-BY NC ND 4.0 license.
