The Functioning of Students’ Digital Communication Competencies. Pilot Studies Conducted at the Preschool and Early School Pedagogy Program at the University of Rzeszów

Abstract

This article aims to analyze digital communication competencies based on research conduct-ed among first- and second-year students of preschool and early childhood education. Our study attempted to compare how those already professionally active and those who have not yet entered the workforce cope with the challenges of digital communication. Five areas were analyzed: 1) the use of communication tools; 2) the use of netiquette in online communication; 3) creating under-standable message content; 4) data and information management; and 5) applying safety principles in digital communication.
The research results allow us to conclude which of these specific competencies are most de-veloped among the young generation and whether their presence in the labor market changes the way they are used.
