Abstract

Information technology especially its usage gets more and more larger meaning for the contemporary societies, those most developed ones are described as information societies. In institutionalized school education in Poland, IT subjects were introduced a few years ago. The knowledge squired by students of junior high school is an interesting research area. Zagłębie Dąbrowskie was introduced to carry on tests assessing the computer knowledge of the group of junior high school graduates chosen at random. The statistic results of the above mentioned tests show scarce and moderated the computer knowledge of respondents in Zagłębie Dąbrowskie area. Despite the popularity of the Internet among junior high school students, the terms of the computer science turned out to be the most faintly well-known area.
