Abstract

The article concentrates on the issues devoted to the phenomenon of net-holism, including the impact of the Internet on the human psyche. Daily use of devices with Internet access affects the level of interpersonal communication, which more or less moves to virtual communication. Wide access to social communicators makes us move to communication using hieroglyphs, which today are commonly called smileys, to express our emotions, feelings accompanying a certain moment, day or situation. Taking into account the access to such solutions makes it difficult for the youngest generations of people to communicate normally with each other. A perfect example are people sitting at the same table but communicating using a specific application. The ability to use a specific technology should result to a significant extent from the predisposition and the hierarchy of values of the person who uses it. Taking into account the statement – I do not exist on the Internet, it may be at least difficult to maintain a certain attitude towards a given technology. The article also draws attention to the diagnostic criteria that determine Internet addiction. It also presents selected results of own research conducted by means of a questionnaire.
