Abstract

This article deals with an extremely important and current issue concerning the choice of a field of study after high school graduation. This choice is a very important life decision, which may determine the professional and social future of a young person. This is all the more difficult because the current rapid pace of technological development generates very rapid changes on the labour market. Today, the valued profession may lose its importance in a few years' time, and today’s niche profession may become very attractive and prestigious in a few years’ time. Some occupations currently on the labour market may no longer exist in 10 years’ time and will be replaced by different ones not yet present. This research paper presents the results of pilot studies carried out on students of the Faculty of Pedagogy of the University of Rzeszów concerning factors influencing their choice of a particular field of study. The research was conducted using an electronic survey available via the Internet.
