Guiding Visual Attention during Algorithmic Problems Solving

The goal of this study is to investigate the influence of using the typographic cues on the effi-ciency of solving the algorithmic problem. The study was conducted on a group of 48 school age students of a third form of lower secondary school. Eye movement data were collected during the study. There was observed a slight reduction in execution time and a higher percentage of correct answers in the case of the task with cues. The eye tracking parameters did not differ significantly. The research results positively verifies the potential role of cueing students’ visual attention during solving an algorithmic task.Downloads
