A sad pupil – a new challenge for teachers of today. Depression in adolescents

Abstract

The paper deals with the problem of depression in adolescents. The findings of the research which is being conducted in Poland show an increase in this disorder. This paper validates the necessity of enhancing knowledge and skills of teachers within the scope of preventive measures as well as measures supporting the treatment process of a sufferer. Conclusions regarding the system of teacher education and development have also been formulated.
