Abstract

Social changes which are the result of globalization, influence the change of social life and functioning of human. In this text the author presented the new type of human – modern consumer, who is in opposition to the traditional consumer. This new consumer does not present stabilized sphere of consumerism needs and wants. He gives in to attractions of current consumption market, he feels that his participation in this market is not completed, that he is insatiable in the sphere of his needs or different desires. He needs more and more new experiences, emotions, delight- connected not only with possession of collected things, devices, gadgets and facilities, but also with its purchase and presentation. Characteristic feature of modern consumer is significant change in the sphere of personal values: from culture values (spiritual, cognitive, humanistic and aesthetic) to the lower values (material, usable and practical). In this article the author presented modern consumerism as an important but not fully noticeable social, educational and upbringing problem. Deepen pedagogical reflection over the condition of modern human, constructing ideas of practical educational and upbringing activities focused on human axiology is therefore needed. This text is the suggestion in this area.
